Watch NBC Action News HD from 8-9 a.m. and at 5 & 10 p.m. as we track our next storm!
Good Sunday bloggers! Today is a tough day because it is my last day at KSHB. I can safely say that I learned more working with Gary, Brett, and Jeff than any other weather team in my career. When I arrived 3 years ago I had doubts that the weather pattern could actually cycle and be used to predict long range. In just my first year I quickly realized that there was something to this, especially since my first year had 'the storm' that cycled I believe every 42-46 days. This storm arrived around November 30, repeated when my daughter was born in January of 2007, and then came back again in the Spring and even early Summer! I look forward to sharing the LRC with a new group of viewers. There will be doubts, as we've learned here, without questions being asked though, some of the answers would never be discovered. Hopefully everyone will venture up to WISN.com and keep me updated on the happenings around Kansas City in the years ahead!
Below is a picture from last December 23 when I was in Milwaukee. I think the snow depth was around 18"!

Now onto the weather. For today we will see periods of clouds once again. There have been a few sprinkles or brief showers mainly east of the state line this morning. Rain chances today are less than 20%, so don't cancel any outdoor plans. And odds are if you head to Arrowhead to tailgate, you will stay dry. Temperatures for today should be very mild with low 60s in many spots.
Monday will likely be our last mild day for a little while as a punch of colder air will arrive. Right now there should be some rain showers around later Monday and there is a chance that some snow mixes in on Tuesday. At this moment the storm track is not ideal for snow in Kansas City. In fact, the 12Z NAM does not bring a changeover or mix into the metro until somewhere around Noon to 6 p.m. Notice how close the possible snow is in northeast Kansas. A little shift and we could see enough snow to stick. The track of this storm is key and something we will focus in on NBC Action News today at 5 p.m. and after NFL Football.
Below is the 12Z NAM forecast for Tuesday afternoon. The blue line represents the 850mb 0C line. This map indicates we could see some snow on Tuesday.

After the rain/snow on Tuesday, the focus will shift to an area of cold air that should drift in late Wednesday into Thursday. Below is the surface map from the 12Z NAM for late Wednesday. This area of cold air will likely keep highs around 40ish on Thanksgiving.

That's it for today unless the afternoon/evening data has some changes. It has been a pleasure writing blogs each week that help people plan there lives and maybe learn something along the way.
