Good video! Thats always cool to hear that the FAA and NWS is interested in your video - indeed a very rare catch on video!

I was out driving around in the storms last night from near Barry Road in N. KC, down to Oak Grove, MO then back to Lee's Summit, MO. Insane in places with extremely heavy rain! The lighting was also very cool to watch.

It will be interesting to see what happens with what is currently developing out there.

Should see something similar to what we had yesterday.

It is a complete mess our there right now. Mammatus, no..it was a boundary of sorts, not a gravity wave. Ed showed the ones from earlier, and we are getting some now from the convection in Central MO.

I have no idea what is going on...boundaries are all over the place and I am baffled by the large amount of gravity waves today. Something isn't right.

Wind directions and speeds are all over the board..this is very little consistency. Not even sure how I would draw a surface map right now.

Last Night around 10:00pm. My Brother Got on here and Posted that there was a Tornado down on my Username. I was not home at the time. I want you guys to know that there was No tornado. I was not on at the time of 10:00pm because I was bowling. However, I did see the Storm form right over us and had alot of Lightning associated with this storm complex.

From now on, I will log out so that this problem doesnt become a Issue on this blog.

Yes, its quite crazy out there as far as all the little boundaries and Gravity waves. I think alot of it had to do with the convection east of us in Missouri that kept collapsing and regenerating throughout the morning and afternoon. I guess that is what happens when you have intense heat and humidy and isolated cells develop in this environment. It doesn't take much to bubble up convection. I'm curious to see if the storms along the Neb/Kansas border hold together better tonight than last night.

I'm kind of wondering if those storms up north will accelerate to the SE...
If nothing else, they'll probably throw out an outflow... another outflow I should say.

I usually say no risk of spin-ups on one of these situations, but there are too many outflow boundaries!!!

I am at Lake of the Ozarks and we just "survived" quite a gust up here. Sort of out of the blue. Really seemed wierd not having NBC 41 on the air to stay updated. If storms brew off of what came through here it will be a long nite!!!
Tree limbs everywhere, very heavy rain, vivid cloud to ground lightning, etc. Wow.

Everyone be safe up there. Sure seems to be quite the bow forming west of St. Joe.

I know that microburst are almost impossible to predict but I was just wondering if I should be worried about these or not being in a trailer.

This is so wacked. The NE Linn county threw out an outflow, which fired up the current one in SW Johnson, which is now starting to throw out an outflow.

In the mean time, the convection in Central MO, keeps throwing outflows at us, and the most recent one is moving east and on the north end is near Sedalia moving ENE about 25-30 mph.

Then there is the elephant in the corner in NE KS heading down. It has about 30 or so knots on the front end outflow at the head of the complex.

Then, you have the west end of the moisture axis from about Wichita NE to the complex in NE Kansas serving as a focal point evident by some cu forming.

And, you have the storms in SW MO shooting out outflows as well.

So...clear as mud, right?

I kind of like the outflows these storms have; they go out around in perfect circles pretty much.

What I don't like is when we have north moving storms to the south and south moving storms to the north.

I must say the anvil from that Miami county storm is pretty tight. I'm hoping for outflow, but I know that isn't happening!

I don't think I've ever seen so many outflows EVER! Gonna be interesting when all of this comes together!

Last night's storm total for Emma MO was .73". I was driving home on I-70 when the gust front came through; storms hit here about 5 minutes after we got back here. That delighted the dogs, since they were outside until then. Only a few twigs and small dead branches fell, so I doubt our winds gusted very high.

Forgive my weather ignorance Scott, but what do you mean about outflows? Is that where there is more potential for severe weather? For some reason, I thought outflows were caused from big thunderstorms in the area, that create "outflows" of thunderstorms behind them, but now I think I may have that wrong.

Can't beat the NWS. The gust front has come and gone and now they issue a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for SE Jefferson County until 7:30. All because a severe cell is located over North Lawrence moving sounth, which is away from us. Way to go NWS.

North of La Cygne received .08 inches of rain in today's quick down pour. Wind was gusting pretty good when I got home, but it has since died down and is getting steamy again. Went from 94 degrees to a refreshing 72. Back up to 88 now. :(

It got quite windy here in Parkville. I got nervous enough to get away from the windows as I saw trees twisting and things flying across the backyard. Almost lost power but got lucky enough that it stayed on. Lots of rain but I think the worst has moved on as the winds have almost completely stopped. Kinda eerie. Something close by got struck by lightning....was told you could smell the electricity in the air.

Looks like the thunderstorms are weakening in Lawrence. NW Lawrence had a strong gust front move through initially with lots of lightning to the east. So far, only a couple of sprinkles.

Here in McLouth we had very minor rotation, but only lasted a minute or so. The wind was strong enough to pick up a feed bucket -- 25 gallon bucket -- that was half full of mulch and throw it 1000'. Steady rain continues here.

@kcwxguy, what is the difference between an outflow and a gust front? Are they one in the same? Also re: micro bursts, would the resulting wind event that results from the air crashing into the ground be considered an outflow?

An outflow and a gust front are pretty much the same thing. They are both wind gusts coming off the leading edge of a thunderstorm. They also bring some gusty winds and cooler air.

It was a roll cloud, wich may apear as tornadic rotation, but is not.

Lots of thunder and lightening and dark charcoal grey clouds. Oh joy, more rain. Once again putting up hay this year is hard. Yes we have the heat to cure, but the humidity and these stupid pop-up showers keep the ground wet.

The NWS must have a bunch of interns working. The special weather statement for Linn County is blank. Grrr... Lots of errors from them the past couple of weeks.

My weather radio went off today for the Severe T-storm warning for Douglas county. I only have it programmed for Linn and Miami. Hmmmm....

Zazel - You must live near us....we barely got a drop of rain with these storms and if you look at the radar it seems like there is a wall right near us and the storms disappear before they get to us :(

dont supose anyone noticed the barns and trees that were downed lastnight just south of gardner. had a freight train sound to it and we got a mile of light destruction....didnt show up on radar till after it was over. it was inbetween gardner road and moonlight from 223 to 207 st just north of the lake. neighbors huge barn is now in his front yard and half way down to my place

There's been a chance of rain in the forecast for this evening into the night for quite a while. Yesterday was a surprise, but tonight was not.

*My observations:
I personally have not experience even a sprinkle yet, but it looks like I may get a steady rain in a moment. Not expecting much more well east of KC!

The north end of the outflow boundary just moved through south of Odessa though, and we had about a 25-30mph gust. Impressive scud clouds!

As I look straight up from out the window, I do see some cumulus clouds going vertically still. I'm not worried about severe.

Just a great night to look outside and watch the clouds =)

The rain showers will likely stay mostly on the Kansas side and extream western Missouri. Rain will come to an end from north to south over the next few hours.

.89" so far two miles South of Reno. Still raining. Folks 7 miles NW of me claim they got over two inches.

My neighbor got his swather, hay-rake, and baler out of the barn today, and cut and baled 15 acres of brome hay. Every time he does that, a 20% chance of rain turns into a 100% chance of rain. Since it will be too wet to bale tomorrow - it won't rain.

I'll let you know the next time he gets near his hay equipment.
