The LLTI (Lezak's Leaving Town Index) was in full force this week. Just a few hours after I got on the airplane for Portland, OR a mini supercell thunderstorm formed and tracked across eastern Kansas with perfect

re: What a week &amp; looking ahead

Gary,

Interesting photos from your trip. Thank you for sharing!

Here are high temperatures I registered in south OP this past week:

Last Saturday: 84

Sunday: 92

Monday: 94

Tuesday: 99

Wednesday: 95

Thursday: 92

Friday: 93

Saturday: 97

Again, just missing your "heat wave" criteria. However, with this hot spell, it was the dew points that were severe with most days having dewpoints between 74 and as high as 79 degrees. This is very high for this area based on my (5) years of living here. Additionally, on several of the days during this stretch the winds were near calm during the hottest part of the day. Add in the high late June sun angle and it was the most uncomfortable heat I have experienced since I moved here and in vast contrast to the hot, dry and windy days we often see.

Welcome back!

Bob

-------------------

Bob,

Thanks for the numbers. Yes, it just falls short of a mini-heatwave. It sure feels good today.
