If it stayed like this for summers in Missouri maybe it would be a bit more tolerable. The HUMIDITY has got to go! I might take issue with your heatwave definitions, I'd define by the heat index. And it's always warmer south of KCI. But not picking a fight, it was way heinous hot/humid for 6 days straight.
-----------------

The LRC can be used all the way down to the microscale, so short waves can be forecast by using my theory, but it is quite difficult. Upper level disturbances take on characteristics in each years LRC that are also unique.

So the talk of rain and the 4th of July does not surprise me. The few 4ths that I have celebrated here always seem to go hand in hand with rain. It would be neat if someone did the research and told us how many 4th of July's there have been without the concern of rain within 24 hours of the 4th. That would include the night of the 3rd, during the day on the 4th and early morning hours of the 5th.

My daughter and I drove through one of the pop up cells on Saturday late afternoon. It was pretty intense! I later thought about the show storm chasers and thought about what it looks like when a tornado goes over them and I realized that is exactly what the 470 heading towards Grandview looked like when we drove through it. Lots of strong winds, heavy heavy rain, etc. Something I experienced that day that I have never seen is when the weather started to get bad on the freeway, everyone (at least those who were not pulled over) had their hazards on. I have never seen that before. Is that so other drivers can see them better in the poor visiablility?

re: A calm start to the week...June 29, 2009

Hello from Sand Diego, its WONDERFUL here and flying made me sick, lots of turbulance taking off.
